Can't save a Microsoft Office document? Look for the forward slash
This is a very, very, very long-running problem that seems to crop up only with Microsoft apps. Create a file in any other program, put a slash in its name, save it, open it, modify it, and save it again. OS X handles it just fine. Do the same with a Word, Excel, or PowerPoint document and you receive an error.

Next check Word Options Trust Center Trust Center Setting File Locations and again make sure all is okay with the settings as listed.
I have full administrator privileges on this computer. I have confirmed ownership of the file and folder and in fact have explicitly taken ownership of both and still have the problem.

I hope you have fixed it for you, but give it time to fail again. I've noticed that it rarely fails on the same file, so if you are working on a bunch of the same files over a few days, it should work ok. I most often get bitten when working on a file I've never worked on before, or not in a long time - like weeks or even a few months. It seems to me that ODB needs to cache some info about the file.
Irritating as heck. Almost as irritating as MS's silence and notable absence in this thread.
This is an incredibly stupid and frustrating problem. I can't believe that a new install of Windows 65 would have such a basic problem, especially not with Office files given that Office is a Microsoft package!
But basically, sometime in early November my PC stopped getting Office 865 updates, and sometime in early December my PC stopped getting Windows updates.
If the document is for viewing online only, you can compress the file size by clicking Minimum size (publishing online) next to Optimize for.
